The 39-year-old will lead A Selecao at the 2024 UEFA European Championship, 20 years after making his debut appearance at the tournament as a teenager in 2004.

Ronaldo returned to Portugal's starting XI in their convincing victory over Ireland in a preparation game ahead of the competition, scoring twice with two expertly taken left-foot finishes in the second half.

Speaking after the match, the Al Nassr No. 7 seemed to concede that his days at the highest level are numbered given his age.

"I don't have many years left in football… so, I have to enjoy it," he said.

"I'm in love with football. Every game is special, imagine at the Euros with Portugal, you feel proud... it's a dream, like when I was 20."

No player in history has scored more goals at the EUROs than Ronaldo as he looks to add to his 14 strikes in Germany.
