Earlier this month, it was revealed that the 14-year-old would be making his international debut for Portugal at the Vlatko Markovic International Tournament in Croatia. He featured in the Seleção's 4-1 victory over Japan, and although he didn’t score on his debut, it was reported that several top European clubs — including Manchester United — were in attendance to scout the youngster.
Ronaldo Jr made a far more significant impact in the final of the competition, netting a brace in Portugal's 4-3 win over the host nation, Croatia.
According to Marca, that standout performance has intensified interest from a number of clubs. In addition to Manchester United, Spanish giants Real Madrid have reportedly made their interest known.
Both clubs are not only iconic in their own right, but also places where Cristiano Ronaldo Sr won UEFA Champions League titles, domestic leagues, and multiple Ballon d'Or awards — and where Ronaldo Jr spent parts of his youth development while his father was on their books.
