The skilful attacker, who is currently sidelined due to a case of the mumps, has stated that Brazil legend Robinho is the player he looked up to when he was younger.
When asked by FIFA who his hero in the sport is, Neymar responded with: "Robinho. I have always loved Robinho ever since I was little and I had the pleasure to play alongside him. Not only at Santos, also with Brazil."
Robinho joined Real Madrid when he was 21 years old, around the same time eight-year-old Neymar began his footballing career.
Robinho left Los Blancos to join Manchester City in 2008 and was then loaned to Santos, his youth club, between January and June 2010. At that time, Neymar burst on to the scene with the same Brazilian club, before making the move to Barcelona in 2013.
Robinho now plays for Guangzhou Evergrande in China, after a four-year stint at AC Milan and another loan to Santos.
