On Saturday, the pair were seen in conversation before Neymar stepped up to take and convert a penalty in the first half of PSG's 5-2 win over Montpellier in Ligue 1.
It appeared as if Mbappe was asking his colleague if he could take the kick from 12 yards, just minutes after the Frenchman saw the penalty he had taken earlier saved by Jonas Omlin.
Speaking after the match, PSG boss Christophe Galtier said the 23-year-old France international had been the team's designated penalty taker for the match but took no issue with the second one being taken by Neymar.
The Brazilian netted penalty goals in the French giants' victories over both Nantes and Clermont Foot in the matches that preceded this past weekend's game.
Tensions then continued to rise as Neymar took to social media to "like" tweets in which Mbappe was criticised for his attitude, with one of them accusing the ex-Monaco starlet of having too much power in Paris.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Brazilian feels betrayed by his colleague, who was reported to have asked PSG's board to sell the ex-Barcelona forward in this transfer window.
Report: PSG To Address Mbappe Neymar Tension
Mbappe's return to action for PSG saw him involved in several heated incidents, including one where he stopped his attacking run seemingly in fury after new signing Vitinha opted to play the ball to Lionel Messi instead of him.
