Mane: We Are Not Playing Only For Ronaldo

Sadio Mane has responded to rumours Al Nassr's players are only playing for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sadio Mane has responded to suggestions that Al Nassr's players are only playing to help Cristiano Ronaldo reach his goal targets.

The Knights of Najd got back to winning ways with a 3-1 away victory over Al Gharafa in the AFC Champions League on Monday night.

Ronaldo, 39, struck twice on the night to bring up his 12th and 13th goals of the season, and the 912th and 913th of his record-breaking career.

Al Nassr's players, though, have been accused of trying too hard to help the five-time Ballon d'Or winner get closer to his 1 000-goal target, a sentiment former Liverpool winger Mane has strongly denied.

"These are just media headlines, because they really don't understand football," he told reporters.

"Ronaldo plays for the team, and we all support and complement each other.

"Personal achievements come on their own, and we are here to help the team, not a specific player.

"I don't know exactly how many goals he's scored, maybe 912 or 913, but reaching this number in itself is an achievement, and not every striker is able to achieve it."

While Ronaldo has contributed to 16 goals this season so far across all competitions, Mane has played a part in 10 strikes in 20 appearances.
