Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi expressed his anger with a new rule in Major League Soccer during the side's comeback win over Montreal.

The Argentine was on the receiving end of a foul from Montreal's George Campbell five minutes before the halftime break.

After getting treatment, Messi had to leave the field as per normal rules, but in the MLS you have wait two minutes before entering the pitch.

Messi made his feelings clear to the camera while waiting on the sideline.

"These types of rules...it's going bad," the Argentine said, as per ESPN.

Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino also expressed his disappointment with the new MLS rule.

"There are situations that must be revised," Martino said.

"In Leo's situation, he was clearly fouled. The player deserved a yellow card, which would mean Messi would've never left the field for two minutes.

"As I understand it, the team that suffered the foul was punished. With these new rule changes, there are situations that must be revised.

"The infraction was clear and was a yellow card, and ultimately it was us that lost Leo for two minutes."
