FC Barcelona reportedly admitted that they might have made a tax calculation error in some of the contracts signed with companies belonging to Neymar's father.
However, the Catalan giants are adamant that the error wasn't made in the €40 million payment to the company NN, which is owned by Neymar Sr.
Spanish newspaper, La Vanguardia, has revealed that the club's lawyer, Cristobal Martell, has told local authorities about certain tax errors in the signing of the 22-year-old.
According to the club's assessors, the error was made in the sponsorship and scouting contracts between two of Neymar Sr.'s companies and the Catalan giants.
The error was made in the very first two payments to these companies and amounts to €1.2 million. A tax payment should have accompanied these but the club didn't make them because their legal advisors didn't tell them to.
Barcelona's representative were adamant that there were no mistakes in the big €40 million contract with NN and insisted the only discrepancy that exists is regarding how certain criteria might be interpreted.
The club are prepared to pay overall penalties worth up to €20.5 million.
