The Portuguese stared in the FIFA Club World Cup final to lift his third trophy in the competition.
Following his Man of the Match performance in the final, Ronaldo has now won the Club World Cup in 2008 with Manchester United as well as in 2014 and 2016 with Real.
As a consequence, the 31-year-old has joined a small elite group of players around Messi.
The only other players to have previously won the trophy three times are the Argentine and his FC Barcelona teammates Andres Iniesta, Gerard Pique as well as their former colleague Dani Alves.
Ronaldo teammate Toni Kroos also joined the group after previously lifting the Club World Cup with Bayern Munich in 2013 and Los Blancos in 2014.

Back in 1962, legendary Pele scored a triplet in the Intercontinental Cup – a predecessor of the Club Worle Cup – as Santos beat Benfica over a two-legged final.
