On the recent January window's deadline day, Barcelona announced the signing of Sporting Braga winger Francisco Trincao, who, in some circles in Portugal, is referred to as the "next Ronaldo".
The 20-year-old, who will only join the Catalan club at the end of the season, plays predominantly on the right side of attack and likes to cut inside on to his stronger left foot.
Trincao is not the first youngster to have earned comparisons to Ronaldo, though, and there are many recognisable names among the list of players who have been tipped as the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's successor, including two other Portuguese talents.

Valencia forward Goncalo Guedes was given this title after bursting on to the scene at Benfica in 2015, but has since failed to reach the heights expected of him. Joao Felix has also been considered as Ronaldo's successor in the Portuguese national team, but things have not been easy going since his breakthrough season.
Like Guedes, Felix made a name for himself at Benfica, but after making a €126 million (R2 million) to Atletico Madrid in 2019, the attacking midfielder has contributed to just six goals in 24 games.
Current Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha was tipped to be the next best thing at Old Trafford when he joined United in 2013, but left the club just two years later to return to the Eagles.
