Ten Hag: Issues With Sancho Still Exist

Erik ten Hag claims that there are still underlying issues with winger Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag claims that the issues involving winger Jadon Sancho still exist, putting further questions over his future at the club.

At the beginning of the campaign, the relationship between the Dutchman and his English star seemed to have reached a breaking point as the attacker was ousted from the first team for his public remarks about his manager, saying he was being made a scapegoat.

Sancho's refusal to apologise led to the 24-year-old being loaned back to the club United had bought him from, Borussia Dortmund, during the mid-season transfer window.

Since returning to Signal Iduna Park, though, the London native has seemingly found the form that made the Red Devils splurge €85 million (R1.7 billion) for his services in 2021.

The latest illustration of his resurgence was his performances for the Yellow and Blacks over the course of their two-legged quarter-final in the UEFA Champions League against Atletico Madrid, with his contributions helping the Bundesliga outfit progress 5-4 on aggregate.

In his latest pre-match press conference, Ten Hag acknowledged the attacker's good form, but also addressed the simmering tension that seems to still be prevalent between them.

"Of course, I follow international football and follow the players on loan at other clubs. It was a fantastic game, Dortmund against Atletico Madrid. A great performance from Dortmund and also for Jadon, it's good news. He made his contribution to the result for Dortmund," the former Ajax Amsterdam boss said, as per Goal.

When asked about if the situation between him and Sancho had changed, however, he said: "No, but we know Jadon Sancho is a fantastic football player, so that is not a surprise for us. That is not the issue."
