NEW: Barca Star Responds To Teammate's Public Criticism

Ronald Araujo has responded to Ilkay Gundogan's criticism following Barcelona's loss to PSG in the UEFA Champions League.

A Barcelona star has responded to the public criticism he received from a high-profile teammate after they crashed out of the UEFA Champions League this week.

Following their 4-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at home in the second leg of their European quarter-final on Tuesday, Ilkay Gundogan caused a stir with his candid post-match comments.

The Germany international said Ronald Araujo's first-half red card "killed" the team's chance of progressing, and that his colleague might have been better off allowing his opponent, Bradley Barcola, an attempt at goal instead.

The centre-back was adjudged to have been the last man in defence as he fouled the French winger, resulting in a straight red card.

Araujo has since broken his silence on his teammate's scathing remarks, amid reports of unrest in the first-team dressing room.

"I prefer to keep to myself what I think about Gundogan's statements," he said, according to Forbes

"I have codes and values that have to be respected."

The 25-year-old also addressed his future at the Catalan giants, insisting he is happy at last season's LALIGA Champions.

"I'm very happy at Barcelona, my family is happy. Every time I go out on the field, I show it," he added.

"The desire, the energy of wanting to help and I'm going to give it my all until the end."

Barcelona will have an opportunity to get back to winning ways on Sunday when they travel to the country's capital to take on Real Madrid in the next instalment of the famous ElClasico.
