Euro Side 'Put' Newly Axed Man Utd Boss On Wishlist

A major European club is reportedly interested in appointing recently axed Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag.

The 53-year-old saw his tenure with the Red Devils come to an end in October after a wretched run of form.

Of the 13 matches in all competitions he oversaw at the start of the 2024/25 campaign, the Dutchman won only four.

A 2-1 defeat to West Ham United ultimately brought his reign at the club to an end.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Ten Hag could soon return to top-level football management, as Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig are reportedly interested in his services.

The German side started the new season promisingly but are now winless in their last six matches in all competitions, having lost five during that run. This poor form has placed head coach Marco Rose under significant pressure, and should he fail to turn things around, he could face dismissal.

While Ten Hag is reportedly on Leipzig's radar, their preferred candidate appears to be Roger Schmidt.

The German tactician parted ways with Benfica earlier this year, and having previously coached their sister club RB Salzburg, the Red Bull ownership group are said to be eager to bring the Kierspe native back.

However, the publication notes that Schmidt may not be keen to take over mid-season, preferring instead to assume the role at the end of the campaign.

This could pave the way for the former Ajax Amsterdam boss to take the hot seat at the Red Bull Arena should Leipzig decide to part ways with Rose.
