Following his initial arrest earlier this year, Manchester United's Mason Greenwood has been charged with attempted rape, leaving his career as a professional footballer in major doubt.
Greenwood Clashes With Fan Ahead Of Hearing
Greater Manchester Police reportedly told the Daily Mirror on Sunday that the 21-year-old was set to remain in custody after he was charged with "attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm" on Saturday.
It is also claimed that the one-time England international is being investigated for allegedly breaching his bail conditions after it was said he tried contacting the complainant.
The report states that Greenwood, who has not been seen at United since his initial arrest, will appear in court on Monday for his first hearing regarding the case.
A statement from the Red Devils at the weekend read: "Manchester United notes that criminal charges have been brought against Mason Greenwood by the Crown Prosecution Service. He remains suspended by the club, pending the outcome of the judicial process."
Man Utd Player Furious With Greenwood Treatment
Greenwood was hailed among the most talented young players in England before his detainment in January, after he contributed to 47 goals in 129 appearances for the club since his senior debut in 2019.
