Man Utd 'Make Decision' On Greenwood Return

Man Utd 'Make Decision' On Greenwood Return

Manchester United have reportedly reached a conclusive decision regarding Mason Greenwood's return to the club.

According to the Daily Mail, the club's hierarchy has decided that the beginning of next season will be the earliest that Greenwood will be allowed to come back to the training pitch.

The Red Devils are currently still conducting their own investigation into the allegations that led to the forward's arrest in early 2022.

Last year January, the England international was arrested amid allegations of rape, coercion and sexual assault, but the charges against him were dropped by the Greater Manchester Police last month.

The same report suggests that Greenwood has pleaded with the club to allow him back to Old Trafford and that he is committed to the club, but the record Premier League champions will not be pressurised into making a decision over the striker's future just yet.

United are said to be split over the return of their academy alumni, with some of the side's football staff arguing that the player should be given a second chance, but some executives are wary of his return and what commercial implications it could have, with EA Sports, Nike and Cadbury having all dropped Greenwood as a client once the allegations emerged.

Manager Erik ten Hag has been reluctant to speak on the matter, insisting that the issue is being handled by the club, but the Dutchman has reportedly spoken to the young attacker since the charges were dropped.
