Ligue 1
Result: Paris Saint-Germain 5-1 Montpellier
Date: 20 February 2019
Venue: Parc di Princes
Paris Saint-Germain moved 15 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 after thumping Montpellier 5-1 at the Parc di Princes on Wednesday evening.
PSG were once again without Neymar and Edinson Cavani as Christopher Nkunku joined Julian Draxler and Mbappe in the attack.
The hosts broke the deadlock after just 13 minutes, with full-back Layvin Kurzawa converting a cross from Dani Alves for his first league goal of the campaign.
The visiting side did not sit back and they were level just after the 30-minute mark through French forward Florent Mollet.
However, Angel di Maria restored PSG's lead just before the break with a delightful free-kick that left goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte with no chance.
After a quiet start to the second half, Montpellier had the ball in the back for the second time in the 68th minute, but the goal was eventually ruled out.
However, the home side were not to be denied on 73 minutes as Nkunku handed his side a two-goal advantage with a close-range finish.
Mbappe got in on the act with 12 minutes remaining to make it 4-1, before the World Cup winner completed his brace three minutes later to round off an emphatic win.
