Result: Olympique Lyon 1-4 Paris Saint-Germain

Date: 03 September 2023

Venue: Groupama Stadium

Coach Luis Enrique went with the same side that started against RC Lens last weekend, while Zimbabwe international Tino Kadewere was recalled to the Lyon line-up.

The visitors were awarded a penalty in the third minute when Corentin Tolisso brought down Manual Ugarte in the box, which allowed Mbappe to convert from the spot.

The lead was doubled in the 20th minute when Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes parried Ousmane Dembele's cross into the path of Achraf Hakimi, who took one touch before blasting home.

Hakimi went close to grabbing a second goal 12 minutes later as a swift counter attack ended with the Moroccan full-back skipping past a couple challenges before seeing his strike crash against the crossbar.

The third goal did arrive seven minutes before the halftime break, as Ugarte turned provider to pick out Marco Asensio, who sent a composed finish beyond Lopes for his second league goal of the season.

There was enough time for a fourth goal on the stroke of halftime, with Asensio turning provider to set up Mbappe for his second goal of the encounter and cap off a wonderful half for the hosts.

PSG carried that dominance into the second half and were unlucky not to have added a fifth goal just before the hour mark when Mbappe nodded the ball back for Dembele, saw his strike crash against the crossbar.

Lyon were given a chance to pull a goal back on 74 minutes when Warren Zaïre-Emery's foul on Nicolás Tagliafico saw the referee awarded a penalty, which Tolisso converted to reduce the deficit.

PSG will enter the international break in second place on the Ligue 1 table, two points behind AS Monaco.
