PSG Lose Ground On Ligue 1 Leaders After Dropping Points

Paris Saint-Germain lost some ground on the Ligue 1 leaders after being held to a goalless draw by Clermont at Stade Gabriel Montpied.

Kylian Mbappe recovered his from injury that he sustained against Marseille and lined up in the attack alongside Ousmane Dembele and Randal Kolo Muani.

PSG dominated from the onset looking to build on last weekend's big win over Marseille but they had to wait until the 19th minute  when Dembele saw his powerful strike saved by Diaw.

Clermont had a chance of their own in the 31st minute when after  Shamar Nicholson was left un-marked in the box but sent his header over the crossbar from Maxime Gonalons' cross.

The defending league champions  continued to dominate as the first half went on, but they were unable to find a way past the Clermont defence as they went into the break all square.

A flurry of chances fell for the home side shortly after the halftime break, with Dembele firing over the crossbar while Achraf Hakimi saw his strike saved by goalkeeper Mory Diaw.

PSG coach Luis Enrique opted for a double change after the hour mark, as Goncalo Ramos and Warren Zaire Emery coming on for Vitor Ferreira and Bradley Barcola.

The home side went close to pulling head with 20 minutes left on the clock when the ball dropped kindly for Yohann Magnin in the box, but the midfielder's effort deflected behind for a corner.

Enrique's charges would not go on to find a breakthrough in the latter stages of the second half, with Dembele going closest with a header kept out Diaw as Clermont held on for the point.
