The ex-Manchester United wonderkid started in Olympique Marseille's 3-0 defeat to PSG in Ligue 1 at the Stade Velodrome, but lasted only 45 minutes before being hooked at half-time.
Greenwood, 22, has enjoyed a bright start to life in France, but failed to make an impact as Marseille found themselves three goals down at the break.
Speaking after the game, manager Roberto De Zerbi, who stuck his neck out to bring the one-time England international to Marseille, said he was far from happy with his contribution on Sunday.
"I didn't like the way he played," he said, according to Goal.
"If we want to compete for the title, we have to push in all matches. He's a good guy, but I expected a lot more from him this evening."
De Zerbi continued with his analysis of the game itself, insisting his players need to sacrifice more if they are to pick up good results consistently.
"We didn't play with courage, like my team should play. We had to play with courage, that's why it was more difficult," he added.
"We're going to have to keep working and do more. We need to have more personality and play better. We weren't able to be competitive."
