Result: Atletico Madrid 2-2 Eibar
Date: 20 May 2018
Venue: Wanda Metropolitano
Fernando Torres netted a brace in his final game for Atletico Madrid as they drew 2-2 with Eibar on the last day of the LaLiga season.
It was an emotional send-off for Torres, who helped clinched the UEFA Europa League title in midweek, and he was in on goal after nine minutes this weekend but skewed wide.
A dry spell of play ensued until Torres combined with Vitolo at the far post, where the former drove a low shot into the side-netting on the half-hour mark.
Eibar were showing little to no threat at this point and the closest they came saw a half-hearted effort from Ivan Alejo flash narrowly wide.
However, the visitors still managed to go ahead against the run of play when Kike poked home a loose ball amidst the presence of an on-rushing Jan Oblak on 35 minutes.
The lead didn't last long though as Atleti drew level three minutes before half-time thanks to a close-range tap-in from Torres off a cross from Angel Correa.
The second half saw Eibar off to a positive start, whipping balls into the box in an effort to pick out their tricky attacking trio, who caused havoc with their runs in between the defensive lines.
However, a sucker punch befell them when Torres got his double on 60 minutes after finishing off a pass from substitute Diego Costa with another close-range effort.
Atletico would eventually end the match with only 10 men as Luis Hernandez got his marching for a rash challenge on 63 minutes.
That inspired Eibar to go on and grab the equaliser, which they duly found after Oblak punched Ruben Pena's long-range drive into the roof of the net with 20 minutes to go.
In the end, that was all both parties brought to the table, with Atleti ending as runners-up to FC Barcelona.
