Speaking exclusively to Soccer Laduma this week, Nigeria international and Almeria forward Umar Sadiq listed three strikers he studied in order to improve.
Benzema Responds To Salah's UCL Final Comments
The 25-year-old has enjoyed some incredible goalscoring form since joining Almeria in 2020, having found the back of the net on 40 occasions in the 80 games he has played for the club, while he has also assisted a further 19 strikes.
Sadiq, previously on the books of clubs such as Roma, Torino and Partizan Belgrade, is currently three points or a draw away from gaining promotion to LaLiga's first division, with Almeria set to take on Leganes this coming Sunday.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma earlier this week, the forward, who was in the Super Eagles' 2021 Africa Cup of Nations squad, revealed he was not always a striker, before naming African legends such as Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Adebayor as some marksmen he paid close attention to in order to better his craft.
"Growing up, I was not a striker," he told Soccer Laduma.
"But when I started playing, things changed. I started watching all the strikers. [Didier] Drogba, Emmanuel Adebayor, [Karim] Benzema.
"You can see this season it is not only about the goals I score, I have loads of assists helping the team, trying to play with the team.
"You know, that makes me feel like a good footballer."
Just had a short video call with Nigeria striker Umar Sadiq. He's a win or a draw away from winning promotion to LaLiga with Almeria. What a nice, kind guy.
