FC Barcelona rising star Ansu Fati has made a shock admission about inheriting the number 10 jersey from Lionel Messi.
The African-born winger is set to feature in his first game since November 2020 after being included in the squad to face Levante on Sunday afternoon.
There will certainly be pressure on the 18-year-old this season after he was given the famous number 10 jersey following Messi's surprise departure in July.
However, Fati reveals he did not want to accept the jersey when it was initially offered to him.
"The first days were difficult," Fati said, as per Mundo Deportivo.
"I didn't want to accept it, but it was what it was. I had to accept it and now it's over. Everything happens for a reason and I'm eager more than ever to enjoy it again.
"The day I put on my boots for the first session I asked the club for permission to have my father and little brother there.
"When they saw me jump, run and touch the ball they cried. I did too. It was a very exciting day for my family."
