According to Fichajes, Real Betis are keen on capitalising on signing the Spain international on a free transfer.
The 32-year-old has been without a club since the Red Devils decided against renewing his contract, and with Los Verdiblancos in the market for a new goalkeeper and the Madrid native a free agent, it is believed they are edging close to an agreement.
De Gea is understood to have received offers from other clubs, notably Valencia. However, Los Che have reportedly stumbled into some issues regarding their pursuit of the United legend, leaving Betis in pole position to potentially secure the 45-cap Spain international's services.
The same report claims that the shot-stopper has rejected lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia in favour of a return to LALIGA, and while the deal is not yet completed, there is growing optimism within the club that it will get done.
