The towering Dutch central defender's existing deal at Liverpool comes to an end once the 2024/25 campaign concludes, and so far, there has been no speculation about a breakthrough being reached.
This has paved the way for other clubs to possibly sign the 33-year-old, and one of the clubs that has been touted as a possible destination for Van Dijk is the Catalan giants.
Still in a precarious financial position, the Spanish juggernauts are regularly scouring the free agent market to decide on likely targets.
According to Sport, the Blaugrana were given the opportunity to sign the Netherlands captain, but club sporting director Deco has denied it.
The same report claims that while adding somebody of Van Dijk's stature would have many benefits, Barca head coach Hansi Flick is already eyeing a move for Bayer Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah.
Like the Liverpool skipper, Tah's current deal with the Bundesliga champions expires at the end of the 2024/25 campaign. Being five years younger, the perennial LaLiga contenders view the acquisition of the German international as one with more upside.

Van Dijk was also reportedly offered to Real Madrid earlier this season, but they too allegedly rejected the chance to land the Breda native.
