Riveiro's Al Ahly 'Offered' Ex-Chiefs Target

Jose Riveiro and Al Ahly have reportedly been offered the opportunity to sign a player who was heavily linked with Kaizer Chiefs.

Earlier in the transfer window, the Club of the Century bid farewell to one of their best players in Wessam Abou Ali. Following his exploits at the FIFA Club World Cup, where he scored three goals in three matches, the towering striker attracted interest from across the world, but he ultimately made the move to Major League Soccer outfit Columbus Crew.

The Palestinian’s move has now created a massive void in the Ahly squad which Riveiro and the club’s executives are now trying to fill. According to El Watan Sports, one of the stars that the record African champions are looking at is Young Africans SC forward Clement Mzize.

The 21-year-old is currently starring for his national team at the ongoing African Nations Championships, where he has amassed two goals in the competition already. He has been linked with a plethora of clubs on the African continent throughout the window, with fellow Egyptian sides Zamalek and Pyramids understood to be among the contenders for his signature.

The Glamour Boys were also touted as a possible destination for the Yanga forward, but following the acquisitions of Flavio Silva and Etiosa Ighodaro, it seems unlikely that they will push for his signature.

Ahly, on the other hand, are believed to be studying his profile and are seemingly keen on signing the player, but the same report states that they do not currently have a foreign spot available and will likely revisit his possible acquisition during the mid-season transfer window.
