On Thursday, football's governing body released its updated ranking, with 2022 FIFA World Cup winners Argentina still holding top spot. Runner-ups in that tournament, France, remain in second place, while Belgium have jumped in front of England.

Brazil, meanwhile, are in fifth ahead of Portugal, who leapfrogged the Netherlands. Ronald Koeman's side are down to seventh, while Spain are unmoved in eighth place.

Italy stay in ninth place and Croatia round up the top 10.

In terms of national teams from the Confederation of African Football, Walid Regragui's Morocco are still considered the African continent's best team.

The Atlas Lions are placed 13th in the overall ranking, though.

Senegal follows as the second highest-ranked African national football side, with 2023 Africa Cup of Nations losing finalists Nigeria third and Mohamed Salah's Egypt fourth.

AFCON 2023 champions Ivory Coast are ranked fifth, Tunisia sixth and Algeria seventh.
