Mane 'Ruled Out' Of World Cup

Having failed to qualify for the 2018 edition of the showpiece, Cameroon are back to represent Africa for a record-eighth time in the Gulf, with Song having impressed since his appointment. Cameroon become the first team from the CAF region to have announced their squad, and Song has assembled a strong, attacking group of players for their exploits in November and December.

Bayern star man Choupo-Moting was included in the group, having already amassed 68 appearances for his country, with the Hamburg-born forward having scored in every match that he has started for the German giants this season, bar one. The team will be captained by Aboubakar, who competed as a teenager at the 2010 World Cup and again in Brazil in 2014 when the Indomitable Lions last appeared at the finals.

Aboubakar, who was part of the team that won the 2017 AFCON will not be joined by another stalwart of the cup-winning side as centre back Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui was left out of Song's selection.
