African FIFA World Cup Qualifying Wrap

Cote d'Ivoire 2-1 Cameroon

Cote d'Ivoire claimed their first victory in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers after overcoming Cameroon at Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara on Monday night.

Ajax striker Sebastian Haller put the Elephants two goals inside the opening 30 minutes with a brace.

Nicolas Ngamaleu set up a nervy final 30 minutes after pulling one back for Cameroon from the penalty spot, but the hosts were able to hold on for the win to move top of the group.

Djibouti 2-4 Niger

Niger claimed their first win in Group A after defeating Djibouti 4-2 on Monday afternoon.

Anas Ali gave the home side the lead 32 minutes, but Niger hit back with four goals in the second half through Victorien Adebayor's brace and further strikes from Amadou Wonkoye and Mahamadou Sabo.

Meanwhile, Warsama Hassan bagged a late consolation for the home side.

Uganda 0-0 Mali

Uganda and Mali settled for a share of the spoils after playing to a goalless draw at the St Mary's Stadium on Monday afternoon.

The home side did finish the game with 10 men as Murushidi Juuko was sent off in the second half.

Benin 1-1 Congo

Benin were unable to make it back-to-back wins in Group J after drawing 1-1 with Congo.

The visitors broke the deadlock on 12 minutes through Dieumerci Mbokani but Benin got the equaliser in the 33rd minute via Jordan Adéoti.

Central African Republic 0-1 Liberia

Liberia registered their first win of the World Cup qualifiers with a 1-0 victory away to Central African Republic on Monday evening.

After suffering a defeat to Nigeria over the weekend, Liberia bounced back thanks to Kpah Sherman's 86th minute winner.
