Xavi Fuming With Loss To African Champions

Xavi Fuming With Loss To African Champions

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez was left fuming after his side suffered a humiliating loss to CAF Champions League holders Esperance at the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Qatar champions had a night to forget at Khalifa International Stadium as his side finished sixth at the tournament after a 6-2 defeat to the Tunisian giants.

Despite playing most of the game with 10 men, the former FC Barcelona midfielder was not happy with his charges' attitude against the champions of Africa.

"This is a premium for us and I can't understand the team today. This is not what we want.

"We are Al-Sadd and we're playing against African champions and our attitude during the first 20 minutes isn't acceptable."

Elsewhere on Tuesday, South American champions Flamengo rallied from behind to defeat Al-Hilal 3-1 for a spot in the final.

European champions Liverpool will do battle with Monterrey in the second semi-final on Wednesday evening.
