Manchester United crashed out of the FA Cup after losing to Fulham on penalties at Old Trafford.

Result: Manchester United 1-1 Fulham (Fulham won 4-3 on penalties)

Date: 02 March 2025

Venue: Old Trafford

The Red Devils made two changes from the win over Ipswich Town, as Christian Eriksen and Noussair Mazraoui introduced in place of Alejandro Garnacho and the suspended Patrick Dorgu.

United dominated proceedings from the onset and they could have taken the lead after 14 minutes when Eriksen picked out Rasmus Hojlund at the near post, but the striker sent his shot wide of the mark.

Fulham, meanwhile, were quite disappointing whenever they got on the ball and pushed forward, as the final pass was not up to par while the likes of Adama Traore and Alex Iwobi were kept quiet.

That nearly changed eight minutes before the halftime break, as Iwobi did well to pick out the run of Saša Lukic, who sent his header wide of the target with only goalkeeper Andre Onana to beat.

Fulham, however, got the reward on the stroke of halftime when Rodrigo Muniz glanced a header into the path of Calvin Bassey, who headed Onana at the far post.

Coach Ruben Amorim responded with a double change just before the hour mark as Garnacho and Victor Lindelöf replaced Manuel Ugarte and Lenny Yoro.

The Red Devils did get their reward in the 70th minute as Diogo Dalot pulled the ball back for Bruno Fernandes, who sent a first-time finish into the far corner for his second goal in the competition.

United almost got the wining goal in second-half stoppage time when Joshua Zirkzee sent Garnacho through on goal, but the Argentine could only fire straight Bernd Leno, sending the game to extra-time.
Neither side could bag the winning goal in extra-time, forcing the clash to a penalty shoot-out, where Fulham goalkeeper Leno made two saves as his teammates converted all of their spot-kicks to triumph 4-3.
