Chelsea Advance To FA Cup Semis After Edging Six-Goal Thriller

Chelsea progressed to the FA Cup semi-finals after defeating Leicester City 4-2 on Sunday afternoon.

Result: Chelsea 4-2 Leicester City

Venue: Stamford Bridge

Mykhailo Mudryk returned to the Blues line-up in place of the suspended Enzo Fernandez, while Robert Sanchez also made his return in goal after lengthy spell out with injury.

The Blues got the early lead when Nicolas Jackson did well to weave his way into the box before picking out Marc Cucurella, who made no mistake at the far post.

Pochettino's charges were provided with a big chance to pull two goals ahead in the 26th minute after Sterling had been brought down by  Abdul Fatawu. The England international stepped up but saw his spot-kick saved by goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk.

Sterling taking the penalty did come as a surprise as Cole Palmer has been the Blues' main penalty taker, while the former has now missed five of his last seven efforts from the penalty spot.

Palmer did get his name on the scoresheet for the home side just before the halftime break, with the England international turning home a low cross from Sterling.

Six minutes into the second half, Leicester were gifted a way back into the clash when Chelsea defender Axel Disasi was unaware Sanchez's positioning and sent a back-pass into his own net.

The Foxes levelled things up on 62 minutes through Stephy Mavididi, who did well to cut onto his right before curling one into the top corner to send the away supporters into a frenzy.

However, Leicester were reduced to ten men 10 minutes later when Jackson was brought down while clear on goal by Callum Doyle, who was given a straight red for the foul just outside the box.

With the game seemingly headed for a draw, the Blues bagged the winning goal in the 92nd minute when substitute Carney Chibueze Chukwuemeka found the back of the net after being set up by Palmer.

There was enough time for a fourth goal in the time added on when another substitute Noni Madueke skipped past a couple challenges before finding the back of the net with a deflected strike.
