UEFA Europa League Result: Liverpool 2-1 Bordeaux Date: 26 November 2015 Venue: Anfield Liverpool squeezed past Bordeaux 2-1 to claim a spot in the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday. The opening strike arrived in the 33rd minute as the French outfit put their noses in front. Plasil layed it up from a free kick to set up the shot for Henri Saivet, who made the most of the chance, smashing it into the top corner. However, the Reds were back level only five minutes later. Christian Benteke made his way into the box and was brought down by Sane, earning the hosts a spot-kick. James Milner stepped up and slotted the penalty with aplomb. Liverpool took the lead on the stroke of half-time. Benteke burst past Yambere just inside the area and buried a powerful shot into the bottom corner of the visitors' goal. The hosts thought they were two goals clear in the 52nd minute when Allen's through-ball found Milner who crossed for Benteke to finish, but the referee disallowed the goal to give a free kick for a trip on Sane. Jurgen Klopp's charges were in control of proceedings after the interval and forced a great save from Carrasso. Allen got the ball just outside the box and unleashed a good shot on target. The Reds held on to their lead and progressed to the Europa League round of 32.
