Result: Everton 3-1 BSC Young Boys

Date: 26 February 2015

Venue: Goodison Park

Everton secured a spot in the Last 16 of the Europa League after defeating BSC Young Boys 3-1 in their second leg clash on Thursday night.

The Swiss outfit silenced Goodison Park in the 13th minute, as Sekou Sanogo pounced on some sloppy defending from the Everton defence to poke home from three-yards out.

Romelu Lukaku leveled matters for Everton in the 23rd minute from the penalty spot, after Steven Naismith had been brought down by goalkeeper Marco Wolfli.

The home side continued to dominate after the equaliser and went ahead minutes later, Luke Garbutt picked out Lukaku with a fine cross from the left and the Belgian side-footed the ball into the far corner.

Everton added a third just before the halftime break, as Kevin Mirallas latched onto a fine pass from Darren Gibson, before placing the ball beyond Wolfi.

Mirallas came close to getting his second and Everton's fourth after the 50-minute mark but his curling effort from 12-yards out produced a fine save from Wolfi.

Arouna Koune replaced Lukaku midway through the first half and nearly got his name on the score-sheet in the 75th minute, but his low strike from the edge of the area crashed against upright.

Roberto Martinez's side already had one foot in the Last 16, as they came into the clash leading 4-1 on aggregate, while the second leg victory sees them win the tie 7-2 on aggregate.
