Spain Star: We Hope To Retire Kroos In EUROs QF

A Spain star and former teammate of Toni Kroos has savagely admitted to hoping to retire the Germany international when the two sides meet in the quarter-finals of the 2024 UEFA European Championship.

In May, the 34-year-old midfielder announced that he would be hanging up his boots after the conclusion of the ongoing EUROs. He ended his club career with Los Blancos having just won the Supercopa de Espana, LALIGA and UEFA Champions League titles.

A player who helped him achieve these feats with Los Merengues was Spanish forward Joselu.

The 2023/24 campaign was the forward's lone season with the European juggernauts, and while he helped Kroos end his club career in glorious fashion, the striker says he will now be aiming to end his international career with heartbreak when Spain clash with Germany on Friday evening.

"I love Toni [but] I think Friday is his last game," the former Newcastle United and Stoke City attacker said, as per ESPN.

"We know the quality he has. He is a key player for Germany, but we can't focus only on him. They are a very dangerous team, above all in attack.

"We know that every time they have possession, the ball passes through Toni. We will have to have a special eye on him so that Germany can't play their game.

"He's been a good friend and, at Madrid, we spoke a lot and he gave me a lot of advice. He is fundamental for Germany as he has been for Madrid, but we hope it will be his final game and we retire him on Friday."
