The Blues midfielder put pen to paper on a deal worth a reported £290 000 (R5.17 million) a week on Friday, becoming the club's top earner in the process.
Kante's weekly wages almost doubled from £150 000 (R2.68 million) to put him on the same level as Paul Pogba and his current deal at Manchester United.
Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are the only two Premier League players who earn more than the midfield duo. The Arsenal playmaker is on a reported salary of £350 000 (R6.24 million) a week, while Sanchez is believed to receive a whopping £500 000 (R8.92 million) weekly at Old Trafford.
Kante's rise to one of the league's highest-paid players is something of a modern-day fairy tale as, just five years ago, he was still playing for Boulogne in France's third division.
