On Monday evening, it was announced that Todd Boehly and the consortium he leads had officially taken control of the London club following a long and complicated ordeal after Roman Abramovich's forced exit.
The Russian-Israeli announced his departure after the United Kingdom government hit him with sanctions due to his ties to Russia president Vladimir Putin, who initiated his country's invasion of Ukraine in February.
In a statement released on Chelsea's website, Boehly, who is believed to be worth £4.7 billion (R92 billion), said he and his partners were thrilled to become "the new custodians of Chelsea Football Club. We're all in – 100% – every minute of every match.
"Our vision as owners is clear: We want to make the fans proud. Along with our commitment to developing the youth squad and acquiring the best talent, our plan of action is to invest in the club for the long term and build on Chelsea's remarkable history of success.
"I personally want to thank ministers and officials in the British government, and the Premier League, for all their work in making this happen."
Boehly is a co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Los Angeles Sparks in the US, and immediately becomes one of the five wealthiest owners in England's top division.
Arsenal's Stan Kroenke is now the third richest owner in the Premier League following Abramovich's exit from England, while Manchester United's custodians, the Glazer family, rank eighth on the list.
