Following their elimination from the Arab Club Champions Cup at the hands of Al Hilal, it was rumoured that Al Ittihad were keen to bring the two-time CAF African Men's Player of the Year to Jeddah.

The Saudi Pro League champions have already acquired the services of French duo Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante, as well as Salah's former Liverpool teammate Fabinho, and were said to be willing to offer Egypt's all-time top goalscorer £155 million (R3.6 billion) over two years in order to lure him to the Gulf state.

A source was said to have told Arriyadiyah: "It is true. There are negotiations between Mohamed Salah and Ittihad Jeddah. This is what I can say, as I don't have any further details so far. The offer must be tempting for the Egyptian star to come and play in Saudi Arabia. Salah still has a lot to offer in England."

However, the Liverpool superstar's agent, Ramy Abbas, has since set the record straight regarding a potential exit from Anfield.

"If we considered leaving LFC this year, we wouldn't have renewed the contract last summer. Mohamed remains committed to LFC," the player representative said via his official Twitter account.

The 31-year-old became the highest-paid player in the Reds' history when he signed a three-year extension with the Merseyside outfit believed to be worth £350 000 (R8.2 million) a week last year.

Saudi clubs may make more attempts to sign the pacey winger, but for the time being, it appears he will be staying put in England.
