New Manchester City signing Riyad Mahrez has explained what motivated him to join the Citizens after four years at Leicester City.
Man City's Highest-Paid Stars After Mahrez Signing
The African star was expected to join City in January this year, but after the Foxes struggled to find an adequate replacement for the winger in time before the window closed, the player remained at Leicester.
However, Mahrez finally got his wish of signing for the Citizens this week, and has since explained his desire to compete in the UEFA Champions League and play under Pep Guardiola.
"I'm very happy to be here, to have signed for this club," he told City's official website.
"To be the record (club signing for City), I don't think so much about this. I am happy, I am starting a new challenge in my life.
"It's a club who wants to win the UCL. City are a big club and have everything to try to win it. It's a goal. Now we will have to work and see what can happen.
"Pep is a big manager who has won a lot of things and made history at this club. I wanted to work under him and to play in this club. I didn't hesitate at all. He wanted me."
