The Red Devils will reportedly offload last season's British record signing, Di Maria, and their Dutch forward van Persie in order for the club to go after Real's out-of-sorts Welsh midfielder.
If the club do sell van Persie and Di Maria, the Mirror reported that it will take £500,000-a-week off of their wage bill, which will enable them to chase Bale.
The 25-year old former Tottenham Hotspur player is reportedly United's main transfer target, with the club having already confirming the transfer of Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven.
While Di Maria hasn't lived up to his £59.7million transfer fee, and with van Persie spending lengthy periods of this season on the bench, the club are apparently keen to sell the players, who both earn £250,000-a-week.
Bale has often been made Real's scapegoat this season, with the fans at the Santiago Bernabéu regularly showing their frustrations with him.
Van Persie has played 30 games in all competition this season, contributing with just 12 goals, while Di Maria has played 32 games, scoring four goals and making 12 assists.
