Recent reports have linked Paris Saint-Germain mentor Laurent Blanc with the United hot seat, but, according to The Sun, Mourinho has been assured he will get the job.
The club have reportedly made it clear to the Portuguese that he is their man to take over from Louis van Gaal, after the former Real Madrid boss had become concerned about rumours suggesting that Blanc or Ryan Giggs could replace the Dutchman.
According to the report, Mourinho will earn £60 million (R1.2 billion) over three years at United, which would be a record amount for a manager.
It is believed that the former Chelsea mentor is already the highest-earning boss in the business, despite being out of a job since December.
