Reports: Furious Pep Guardiola Locks Manchester City Stars In Dressing Room

Reports: Furious Pep Guardiola Locks Manchester City Stars In Dressing Room

Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Manchester City

Following Manchester City's loss to Jose Mourinho's Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday, it is believed that manager Pep Guardiola locked his players in their dressing room.

The Lilywhites were perhaps fortunate to win 2-0 in London on Sunday, after the reigning Premier League champions squandered a number of chances to put the game to bed in the first half already.

Second-half strikes from debutant Steven Bergwijn and Son Heung-min saw Spurs take advantage of Oleksandr Zinchenko's red card in the 60th minute, reportedly leaving Guardiola fuming after the game.

According to the Daily Express, the former FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager locked his players in the dressing room for about 45 minutes following their defeat as he was eager to hold an investigation into what went wrong in the match.

This was a second successive game City lost after not taking any of the chances they created for themselves, having been in a similar position last week Wednesday when they lost 1-0 to Manchester United at home in a League Cup tie.

When post-match interviewer Geoff Shreeves finally got to speak to Guardiola, the Spaniard suggested he had been busy.

"I was talking with my staff, my wife, and some players," he told Sky Sports.

"I don't have too many things to say about the performance."

The 49-year-old then insisted he had not been critical of his players despite the disappointing result.

"Never, with this performance? How should I be critical of my players with this performance?" he said.

"With this performance, it would be an incredible mistake to point to them and say how bad they are, it is not true.

"It's not football, football is to create chances and concede few.

"To believe in this concept, you are closer to win the game. Few times this season it did happen and it happened."
