Report: Two Premier League Sides Want To Sign Messi

Report: Two Premier League Sides Want To Sign Messi

With Lionel Messi's contract at Paris Saint-Germain expiring at the end of the season, reports suggest that two Premier League sides are keen to capitalise on the opportunity to sign the Argentina icon.

Napoli Make Decision On Ronaldo

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner has less than a year remaining on his current deal at the Parc des Princes, and given the start he has enjoyed in the 2022/23 campaign, Messi remains one of the most sought-after players in world football.

The Rosario native has already found the back of the net 11 times in this campaign, matching his entire goals tally from last season, and assisted a further 12 strikes in the 16 matches he has played in all competitions.

With PSG keen to keep one of the best attacking tridents in world football, featuring Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, together, they are reportedly hoping to extend the 10-time LaLiga winner's stay at the Parc des Princes.

However, it is believed the French giants will have to wait until at least 2023 to find out if they are in contention to sign Messi to a new deal, with the Argentina captain reportedly only set to make a decision about his future once the FIFA World Cup in Qatar is over.

Having made a shock departure from Barcelona in August last year before he joined Les Parisiens, it is possible that the 35-year-old will move to another league come next season, with two teams from the Premier League now said to be interested in taking Barca's all-time top goalscorer to England.

Fati Linked With Shock Barca Exit After 'Warning'

According to Fichajes, Manchester City and Chelsea are eager to pounce for Messi's services.

With Pep Guardiola and the playmaker having had a hugely successful spell together at the Camp Nou, the Citizens are reportedly keen to replicate that success in Manchester.

The Blues and their chairman Todd Boehly, meanwhile, are understood to want a massive name to bolster the club's marketability, with Messi felt to be an ideal candidate.
