Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba stole the show as Manchester United thrashed old rivals Leeds United 5-1 in their Premier League opener on Saturday afternoon.

With Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford not available, Mason Greenwood was named as the striker with Anthony Martial and new signing Jadon Sancho on the bench.
United should have been ahead on 12 minutes when Greenwood slipped Paul Pogba through on goal, but the Frenchman somehow fired into the side-netting with only the Leeds goalkeeper to beat.
Leeds managed to carve out a couple chances of their as Mateusz Klich forced David de Gea into a fine save before Patrick Bamford went wide with a header on 26 minutes.
The deadlock was eventually broken on 30 minutes when Pogba's first-time pass found Bruno Fernandes who took once touch before firing under Illan Meslier to put the home side ahead.
After a quiet opening 45 minutes, the visitors got their equaliser three minutes into the second half when Luke Ayling was given time and space to rifle the ball into the top corner from distance.
Leeds' joy only lasted three minutes as a superb pass from Pogba released Greenwood, who rifled the ball into the far corner for his first goal of the season.
United got a third goal moments later as Pogba bagged his third assist by picking out Fernandes, who did well to turn his marker before firing home, with the goal-line technology confirming the goal.
Fernandes was not done there as he completed his hat-trick on the hour mark with a superb first-team finish after getting on the end of Victor Lindelof's long pass.
The rout continued on the hour mark when Fred got his name on the score-sheet with a first-time finish off a low cross from Pogba, who took his tally to four assists.
Sancho eventually came on for his United debut with 15 minutes left on the clock as he replaced Pogba while Martial was also introduced for Daniel James as United saw out the rest of the game.
