Manchester United squandered a number of chances as they drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Perk on Saturday night.

Erik ten Hag surprisingly dropped Marcus Rashford, who scored three goals in his last two games, with Alejandro Garnacho getting a start on the left side of the attack as Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo returned in midfield.

Garnacho almost repaid the faith on ten minutes when he was slipped through on goal by Joashua Zirkzee, but the Argentine saw his strike brilliantly palmed away by Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

It was United in the first half and they should have been ahead in the 26th minute as Garnacho rattled the crossbar with a first-time strike while Bruno Fernandes hit the woodwork on the rebound.

Palace had to wait until the stroke of halftime for their first real chance when the ball was pulled back for Eberechi Eze in the box, but the midfielder could only send his shot straight at Andre Onana.

It was more of the same in the second period as United dominated possession without turning that dominance into goals as Fernandes passed up a good opportunity five minutes after the interval.

Ten Hag then responded with his first change after the hour mark as Zirkzee made way for Rashford in a like-for-like swap, just minutes before Onana produced a superb double save to deny Eddie Nketiah.

Palace had a big chance to pulled ahead with 15 minutes to play when Eze was left unmarked in the box, but the England international placed his shot the wrong side of Onana's upright.

The Red Devils threw everything forward in the final stages but they were unable to carve out another opening.
