New signing Marc Cucurella was handed his full debut for the Blues, while Antonio Conte went with the same side that started against Southampton as Richarlison was named on the bench for the first time.

The Blues enjoyed the early possession and carved out the first chance on 18 minutes Raheem Sterling did well to tee up Kai Haverz, who saw his strike saved by Hugo Lloris.

From the resultant corner, Cucurella managed to pick out an un-marked Kalidou Koulibaly who sent an impressive first-time volley into the back of the net.

The visitors, meanwhile, struggled to get a hold of the ball in the first half as the likes of Harry Kane, Hueng-min Son and Dusan Kulusevski were kept quiet.

It was more of the same from Spurs early in the second half, which saw Conte introduce Richarlison for his debut in place of wing-back Ryan Sessegnon.

The Blues almost bagged a second goal in the 62nd minute when the ball fell kindly to Sterling in the box, but the England international failed to hit the target from 10 yards out.

The hosts were made to rue that miss as Spurs pulled level in the 68th minute courtesy of a neat from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on the edge of the box.

After a horror miss from Kai Havertz on 76 minutes, Chelsea managed to get back in front a minute later when Sterling played in Reece James who showed composure to slot past Lloris.

Spurs threw everything forward in search of an equaliser and were reward in second-half stoppage time when Kane got on the end a corner to earn his side a point at the Stamford Bridge.
