Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has explained why Leroy Sane was dropped from his matchday squad on the weekend, amid claims the player has had a questionable attitude of late.

The winger, who was last season's PFA Young Player of the Year, has not made a great start to the latest campaign, despite having a full pre-season after he was surprisingly left out of Germany's 2018 FIFA World Cup squad.
With the former Schalke star having played just 30 minutes of Premier League football so far this season, Guardiola caused quite a stir when he left the 22-year-old out of his matchday side for City's 2-1 win over Newcastle United on Saturday.
Although he recently said he felt let down by Sane's attitude and work ethic at training, Guardiola has claimed there was simply no space for the player this time around.
"Last game, Phil Foden was not in the squad," the Spaniard said, according to Manchester Evening News.
"I was so sad with Phil, as I am with Leroy now.
"We have six strikers and I decided to play with two strikers, we have two wingers plus another one on the bench and that's why we decided, this game, he wouldn't be there. In the next games, he will be ready to play.
"He played 10 minutes (against Wolves), he tried. He was not precise but he tried. They convince me, I am satisfied from the moment they run. Mistakes without the ball, taking decisions, is part of the process."

In the 2017/18 campaign, Sane scored 14 goals and assisted a further 19 strikes in 49 matches for the Citizens.
