Official: Chelsea Confirm Raheem Sterling Arrival

Chelsea have confirmed the arrival of Raheem Sterling as their first signing ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Following weeks of speculation, the Blues have finally got their first bit of business done for the transfer window, having now announced Sterling as their newest player for a reported £47.5 million (R964 million).

Twelve years after leaving Queens Park Rangers' youth academy, the 27-year-old will return to west London to continue what is already an illustrious career.

Having seen his role at the Etihad Stadium diminish in the 2021/22 season, the forward will perhaps be looking to revitalise his career under Thomas Tuchel.

Considering the Blues' recent failure to integrate their most expensive signing ever in Romelu Lukaku over the past year, Sterling's ability to play across the frontline will be refreshing for Tuchel's attack.

Only Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi have scored more times than the England international under Pep Guardiola, and Chelsea will hoping the former Liverpool man can replicate his goalscoring prowess at Stamford Bridge.

Sterling is understood to have signed a five-year deal with the five-time Premier League champions.
