Only FC Barcelona's Messi has struck more league goals than Salah across Europe's top leagues this season, but he holds just a one goal lead on the 25-year-old.
In a recent interview, the Liverpool winger was asked who he idolised growing up, naming Ronaldo de Lima and his former AS Roma teammate Francesco Totti.
"I say before many times, the Brazilian Ronaldo…and Totti," he told CNN.
"He's unbelievable, he's quality. As a person too he's quality.
"He's calm, great great, very quiet and the confidence about him. I learnt a lot from him."
