Liverpool's Earnings For Premier League Win Revealed

Liverpool's Earnings For Premier League Win Revealed

It is said that Premier League champions Liverpool will receive a record sum in TV rights and prize money following their incredible season, an amount that has now reportedly been revealed.

The Reds enjoyed a record-breaking 2019/20 campaign, and a new report has claimed the records continue to roll in for the league winners.

According to The Times, Liverpool will receive a huge £175 million (R3.5 billion) payout for securing the Premier League title and for appearing on live television.

This comes after clubs across England agreed to pay money back to broadcasters considering the circumstances of this past season that saw many games postponed, causing huge losses in advertising and matchday revenue.

The amount Premier League sides will give back is expected to be around £330 million (R7.5 billion) altogether, but, instead of that sum of money being paid this season, it will be spread out across future campaigns, which allows for the winners to enjoy their massive payday.

It was claimed the Reds might have lost about £20 million (R456 million) were it not for the current arrangement.

While the EPL champions, like many clubs around the world, have undoubtedly been affected by the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, this payout could help manager Jurgen Klopp strengthen ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

Liverpool are strongly linked with Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara and are believed to be in the market for a new centre-back, having already signed Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos as cover for Andrew Robertson.

Klopp's side made history when they wrapped up the 2019/20 Premier League title with seven matches to spare, quicker than any other team in English top-flight history.
