Laurent Blanc Explains Why Manchester United's Paul Pogba Gets Criticised

Former France coach Laurent Blanc has given an interesting take as to why he believes Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba is often the subject of harsh criticism.

Yaya: Pep Doesn't Like African Players, I Want To Expose Him

Laurent Blanc was in charge of Les Bleus between 2010 and 2012, a year before the self-assured midfielder made his full debut for the French national team.

Bursting on to the scene with great promise, Pogba became one of the hottest young prospects in football for the performances he put on at Juventus.

Since his return to United in 2016, things have not been easy for the 25-year-old, and Blanc believes it is simply because of the remarkable talent he showed at such a young age.

"Everyone is always a little against him," he told Le Parisien.

"We always think he can do more. But he matured very quickly.

"If he had only appeared today, we'd say he is a good player. We expect so much of him because he was such a phenomenon at 19.

"Everyone praised him, he was extraordinary. He was already drawing the spotlight. It pleased the media, too, and he was given extraordinary coverage.

"It may not have served him well. Today, he still has his level, but we already want to see him improve.

"What harms him is the way he is on the park. He appears laidback, you never have the impression that he's sprinting to get the ball.

"His rhythm is always unusual. He has this great muscle mass, he carries his head high."

The 10 Most Expensive Signings In Man Utd History

Pogba scored six goals and assisted a further 12 strikes in 37 games for United this past season, but was often criticised by boss Jose Mourinho and English media during the campaign.
