Kompany Reacts To Foster's Red Card

Vincent Kompany has reacted to Lyle Foster's red card following Burnley's draw with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has reacted to Lyle Foster's sending-off on Monday night after the Bafana Bafana international intentionally elbowed an opponent in an off-the-ball incident.

The 23-year-old was shown a straight red card in the final minutes of the Clarets' 1-1 away draw with Nottingham Forest, not long after he had a potential winning goal ruled out.

The match official on the night missed the controversial moment as it took place away from the action, but the video assistant referee (VAR) intervened to bring Foster's elbow into Ryan Yates' ribs to Robert Jones' attention.

After the striker was given his marching orders, cameras showed Kompany appearing disappointed with his frontman's loss of control.

However, the Belgian tactician refused to come down too harshly on the ex-Orlando Pirates forward post-match, insisting he and his staff will support Foster following his "moment of inexperience".

"When you see the gesture on the screen; it's a moment of inexperience," he said, according to talkSPORT

"It's something that we can't really excuse, but at the same time, he's played his heart out for the team.
